A Survey of Information Cascade Analysis

The deluge of digital information in our daily life -- from user-generated content, such as microblogs and scientific papers, to online business, viral marketing advertising offers unprecedented opportunities explore exploit the trajectories structures evolution cascades. Abundant research efforts, both academic industrial, have aimed reach a better understanding mechanisms driving spread quantifying outcome diffusion. This article presents comprehensive review categorization popularity prediction methods, feature engineering stochastic processes, through graph representation, deep learning-based approaches. Specifically, we first formally define different types cascades summarize perspectives existing studies. We then present taxonomy that categorizes works into aforementioned three main groups well subclasses each group, systematically cutting-edge work. Finally, pros cons efforts outline open challenges this field.
